Why use a depot without having a child?

A few days ago, when I reached Achham, I met a health worker. “I have been married for five years. For the first two years before I had a baby, I used Depot Provera. But it has been three years since he left, he has not had a child. After applying the depot, my body was getting fat. Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. ‘

I said, ‘We also teach the use of family planning methods but only after having a child. The one who taught you this does not force his daughter, daughter-in-law or niece to use family planning methods without giving birth to a child. This is an injustice done to you. ‘

When I went to Achham, I found out that the young women had used inplot when they saw that they were using family planning needles when they did not have a single child. It is necessary to speak and write against such wrongdoing.

Family planning methods prevent women from getting pregnant. Protects her life, but the Ministry of Health has considered that if used indiscriminately, it can adversely affect a woman’s healthy life. The use of family planning hormones without having a single child can sometimes increase a woman’s chances of not having a child for a long time.

Women in the far west are humiliated by their families for using so many methods to prevent pregnancy without having a child. The husband remarries because he is “barren.” And there are many sorrows in the life of that woman.

Not only in the far west, but also in different parts of Nepal, the Ministry of Health will teach that hormonal contraceptives can be used without having a single child.

Due to the mentality of looking at women’s body as just a device, the difficult life of women in the Terai and Far West should be known after staying there for a few days, said a health ministry official.

While living in Achham, I saw the idea that the wrong policy of the government should consider women as mere instruments of childbirth. I saw the sad life of a school-going girl who got married at a young age. And I think the idea that we have done nothing for Nepali women in Kathmandu is futile.

I was shocked to learn that a 20-year-old woman from the Far West had died a few weeks earlier due to a miscarriage.

A young woman named Saud Tharki, who was nominated for a government job, had to go for training. She is three months pregnant. When she found out that they do not train pregnant women, she took abortion medicine at 12 weeks. Later he bled profusely.

“I was taken to the hospital for fear of being abused by my family members,” said a community health worker. “She died two days later, bleeding profusely.”

The death of 20-year-old Saud may not have been registered as a maternal death. Because she did not even go for a checkup when she was pregnant. If she had gone, the health worker would have advised her not to miss the ‘first pregnancy’ as much as possible. But who would give such information in the village?

According to community health workers, Saud died while using abortion drugs, and her mother died after giving birth to her 7th child.

“People here think that if I use family planning, it will spread like wildfire.” I met that old woman a few days ago, a very thin, malnourished pregnant woman who told me that whatever happens (this pregnancy) is my time. She did not go anywhere to check. She had six children. After having a baby at home, she bled profusely. When I got the news and brought him to the hospital by ambulance, he died on the way. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop her from getting pregnant. I couldn’t save her life. ‘

A health worker said with tears in her eyes. She died because she did not have the courage to interrupt. Probably the name of the woman was not registered in the maternal death. I told the health workers, ‘On the one hand, using contraceptives in unwanted places has a detrimental effect on women’s reproductive health. On the other hand, when a woman does not want to use the method of family planning even if she wants to have no child, in both cases the life of the woman is in danger and in many cases death. Will the Ministry of Health see this? ‘

Why don’t people understand that only medicine can cure women’s reproductive health? Social problems The treatment of women also affects women’s health. Women’s health problems are also linked to social evils.

The problem arises when those who make posters and write articles about the ‘beautiful Far West’ do not see this ugliness of the Far West village. The women who live there have this problem every day, but they keep quiet about what will happen next. Such issues may not be discussed with the public health office. And to be born a woman, a girl, a teenager is like a curse, it seems like in the far west.

Not only women in the far west but also teenage newlyweds living in other places should take care not to use any kind of family planning method like hormone depots, implants without having children, it is useless.

Those who read this article, please warn your sisters, wives, aunts, uncles and aunts not to use hormonal means without having a child. The elders living in Kathmandu do not use it in this way as they are literate but they are forced to use it in the village. Let us consider for ourselves.
