The inner gate of the highest entrance is closed, security personnel with riot control equipment are mobilized

26 October, Kathmandu. A large number of security personnel have been mobilized to thwart the plan of lawyers to prevent Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra from entering the Supreme Court.

The inner door to the Supreme Court has been closed on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General and the office of the Nepal Bar Association. Earlier, legal practitioners were coming and going to the Supreme Court from the gate towards Nepal Bar.

The entrance to the Supreme Court is also locked. This gate was opened only when the Chief Justice entered and left. At other times it is closed.

Security personnel with riot control equipment are deployed at the gate on the side of the road where service recipients and other persons enter.

As the inner door is closed, the agitating legal practitioners will have to stage a sit-in at the Supreme Court using the road from the west gate-Maitighar section of Singha Durbar. However, as a restraining order has been issued on the road section, sit-ins and other activities are not allowed there.

Legal practitioners led by the Nepal Bar Association have been protesting inside the Supreme Court premises demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Jabra. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Thursday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
