Surkhet is the capital of Karnali province. A mine of natural beauty. Historical and cultural heritage. It is a unique confluence of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Not to be missed after reaching Surkhet, Kankrebihar. The temple can be reached in 15 minutes by car from Surkhet Bazaar. Let’s say, this is the major tourist destination of western Nepal. The temple has just been rebuilt.
The artistic figures of stone can be seen in the temple located in the middle of the dense forest. It is a common pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus.
Here it is customary to swear allegiance by raising the flag. Animal sacrifices are not allowed in the temple on Ekadashi, Aunsi, Sankranti and Sunday.
Bubble Lake
Another attraction of Surkhet is Bubble Lake. Bubble Lake has become a suitable destination especially for domestic tourists. The Surkhet Upatyaka Nagar Vikas Samiti has constructed artistic structures including kindergarten, picnic site and tap with Bubble Lake as its main center.
Locals say that the lake, which was very wide in the past, is now shrinking. At present, under the master plan, it is planned to expand this lake to another three and a half bighas of land.
From paragliding to rafting
After reaching Surkhet, you can have an exciting experience of paragliding. By flying in paragliding, Surkhet Valley can be observed from different angles. You can fly paragliding from Gothidanda of Surkhet.
Although paragliding has been arranged especially for domestic tourists, its flight has been postponed for some time now. You can also enjoy rafting on the Bheri River.

This place has special significance as it is the capital of Karnali province. Even from an administrative point of view, the pressure of those coming to Birendranagar is high.
The same is true of those who come to live here. With all this in mind, we have to manage everything from building physical infrastructure.
At present, the municipality is emphasizing on road expansion and reconstruction. We are making special preparations to make it an administrative center and a tourist destination. Our plan is to manage the tourist structures here along with the transport facilities.
Kankrebihar, a heritage site of Karnali, is also being reconstructed. Another major temple, Deuti Bajya, is also being rebuilt.
The work has been taken forward by making special master plan for all these areas. Relatively, the work is not going well.
The municipality is constructing parks in different areas. We are also building structures in the bubble area.
