‘Safal Pokhara International Marathon-2078’ to be held on March 22

17 October, Kathmandu. The 16th Safal Pokhara International Marathon 2078 is scheduled to be held on March 22.
The Nepal Alumni Forum has organized a press conference on Wednesday and informed that preparations have been made by forming 21 sub-committees to organize the tournament.

The forum has informed that the competition is being organized with the objective of promoting sports tourism by establishing Pokhara on the world map of sports and celebrating this competition as a celebration of the city one day of the year.

The forum has also increased the prize money to be given to the marathon winners. The first place winner will get Rs 400,000, second place winner will get Rs 200,000, third place winner will get Rs 100,000 and consolation winner will get Rs 30,000, according to the forum.

In the next three years, the Pokhara Marathon is planned to be registered with the International Umbrella Organization of Marathon (AIIMS) and the prize money is expected to reach Rs 1 million.

Similarly, the prize money for 10 km men and women, 5 km male and female students, wheelchairs and blind people has also been increased.

The total cost of the 16th edition of the marathon is estimated at Rs 9.3 million and the revenue is estimated at Rs 15 million.
