A businessman is lucky to survive after coming within meters of a giant crocodile on the side of the road while trying to take a picture with it.

Ken Marcus was on his way to work when he spotted the crocodile near Gunbalanya in the Northern Territory last Tuesday.

Marcus got out of his small truck to take the photo and the dangerous animal was only meters away from him.

His friend, who was in the vehicle following him, filmed the encounter showing the crocodile attack Mr Marcus, forcing the frightened businessman to jump back in.

Mr. Marcus continues to film the animal on his phone as it swerves and slashes the tires of his trailer.

The friend off-camera says, ‘Bruce, he’s evil.

Mr. Marcus jumps into the back of his small truck and chases the alligator as it runs after his vehicle.

He precariously leans over the edge to take a picture on his phone, but the length of the rusted trailer keeps him safe.

Mr Marcus and his friends finally managed to take a picture next to the crocodile as it stood on the other side of the road.

The footage of the close encounter has served as a reminder of the animals’ dangerous nature and the recommendation residents do not approach them.
