Jangi Adda bids farewell to Chief of Army Staff Thapa

Kathmandu. Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa, who has been on compulsory leave since September 8, has been formally discharged by the Nepal Army. On Sunday, the Nepal Army bade farewell to Chief of Army Staff Thapa in the presence of Defense Secretary Begendra Raj Sharma Poudyal, Acting Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma and other senior army officials.

Secretary General Poudyal said that Thapa had made incomparable contribution to the prosperity of the organization by reaching the highest post of the army during his 42 years of military service. He also expressed his commitment to work together for the achievement of common goals and objectives between the Ministry of Defense and the Nepal Army in the coming days.

During the three-year tenure of Chief of Army Staff Thapa, there has been a change in the organizational strengthening, modernization and development of methods and systems in the Nepal Army, said Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma. Sharma, who has been leading the Nepal Army since August 8, also mentioned that Thapa has succeeded in making the Nepal Army more capable and strong.

Chief of Army Staff Thapa expressed confidence that the Nepal Army would be maintained as a modern and professional army by building the basic character by assimilating the method and system. Chief of Army Staff Thapa handed over the flag of Nepal Army, flag and staff of the Chief of Army Staff to the Acting Chief of Army Staff Sharma.
