Jail sentence against Myanmar’s leader list halved

According to state-run media, Army Chief Minang Heng announced that the sentence would be halved.

The four-year prison sentence handed down to President Win Mint has also been cut in half. On Monday, a Myanmar court sentenced the leader to four years in prison for violating the Kovid Protocol and inciting against the state.

The court’s ruling on Monday is the first of its kind against the 76-year-old leader. On February 1, the army overthrew the popularly elected government and took power.
