Jill’s I’m A Celeb win caps off a momentous year for the star as she played on the winning Euro team this summer.

Prior to her retirement in August, Jill was the longest serving player in the England team.

The sports star, 35, beat politician Matt Hancock, 44, and Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner, 23, in Sunday evening’s grand final after surviving 23 days in the Australian camp.

After congratulating the former midfielder on her victory, Mike Tindall did the honor of placing a floral crown on Jill’s head as she sat triumphantly on a wooden throne before embracing her fiancee Shelley Unitt on the bridge.

Following her coronation, polled by 12 million viewers, an emotional Jill, who broke down in tears, said: ‘I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I think I’m going to pay my grandma a lot of money for 12 million votes! I don’t think there should be one winner, we are all winners.

Ahead of their fairytale moment, Jill said she was happy to be sitting with her best friend Owen, the pair having connected during their time on the show.

She said: ‘If Owen were to win the king of the jungle or if I were to win the queen of the jungle, there’s nobody I’d be sitting here with, so today’s going to be a great day.’

The lioness said that being part of a team her entire career has prepared her well for jungle life.

‘I always say that’s why kids need to go into sport, it’s not at the highest level or anything like that.

‘It’s what you learn through sports, winning, losing, working hard being a good person and you don’t know how you’re going to react to rats and heights, but all the guys who played for incredible teams Have equipped me well for the wilderness. ‘ she explained.

She tried to stay on her best behavior in the woods knowing her family at home would be watching, she said: ‘I was trying to downplay it at first because I was like Jill, you live on ITV Your grandmother is watching, your nephew, your niece but then as it went on you forgot you were on a TV show.’

She was the only woman to stay in the camp for eight days, but says she saw no need to hold back the likes of Matt Hancock and Mike Tindall.

Jill told Ant and Dec: ‘I never thought about it that way, I didn’t. They were very welcoming. Obviously I’m a bit of a tomboy who plays football. They weren’t like ‘Oh, you sit down, and I’ll get the logs’, I still had to get the water, clean the logs, Danny. No, I never felt that I never did.

Her fiancee Shelly was met at the Red Bridge by the unit, who embraced the champion with a big hug after the engaged couple dated for over a month.
