Glasgow. China and the United States, two of the world’s largest carbon emitters, have agreed to work together to combat climate change. They say they will work together to reduce methane emissions, protect forests and reduce fuel consumption.
In a joint statement issued under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-26) in Glasgow, they agreed to redouble their efforts to fight climate change with concrete plans.
The two major carbon-emitting nations plan to reduce their carbon emissions by 2025, based on the 2020 climate plan and the 2015 Paris Agreement action plan.
He also called for concrete action to reduce decarbonization, methane emissions and prevent deforestation. “Given the differences between the current effort and the goal of the Paris Agreement, the two countries have agreed to work together to combat climate change,” said Ji Jinhua, China’s climate envoy.
According to Ambassador G, the two countries have agreed to move forward with climate planning through concrete programs by the end of this decade and to review the points of the Paris Agreement of the COP-26 Conference.
At the Paris Conference in 2015, it was agreed to reduce carbon emissions and limit the earth’s temperature to 1.5 to 2 degrees. In the past 10 months, China and the United States have held 30 virtual meetings to reach such an agreement.
