Allison Langdon broke down on Monday’s Today show while discussing her late father-in-law Mike Willacy and her next move on A Current Affair.
The television presenter, 43, told co-host Karl Stefanovic that hosting the ACA would be an emotional experience as Mike held the position for 17 years.
‘If I’m being honest, it’s a very special thing for the family,’ a teary-eyed aide admitted.

Allie said her husband, Mike Willacy Jr., was thrilled to see her step in for his late father.
‘It’s a special thing for Mike. It has surprised me how much emotion she has around it,’ she said.
She tearfully admitted that her exciting news would have been even better if Mike Sr. had been alive to share it.

On Sunday, Allison was officially announced as the new host of A Current Affair.
The Today Show star will step into the coveted role as current affairs stalwart in the new year, following the departure of long-time host Tracey Grimshaw in September.

Channel Nine shared the news on A Current Affair’s official Instagram account on Sunday, describing Allison as ‘one of Australia’s most fearless and respected journalists’.
‘Ally Langdon will step into the hosting chair of A Current Affair in 2023 following the retirement of longtime host Tracy Grimshaw,’ the announcement read.
‘One of Australia’s most fearless and respected journalists, Ellie has built a career on trust, empathy and a commitment to journalistic excellence. It will start on Monday, January 30, 2023. Welcome to the Associates team!’
